PAMCANI is proud to salute the 2007 winners of our safety awards. The “Commitment to a Safe Workplace” trophies
were bestowed on the contractors in attendance at a recent PAMCANI lunch meeting in Schaumburg. Now its seventh year, the
competition pays tribute to PAMCANI Alliance members who entered the contest and have demonstrated improvement in a number
of measures of a safe workplace, including the number and rate of lost workday cases, the number and rate of lost workdays, and
the workers compensation mod. Firms that show improvement against their own three-year running average in the area of safety on
the job earn the designation as a safety winner, and receive the special trophy.
On hand to join in honoring the winners this year were Illinois Department of Labor Director Catherine Shannon; UA Plumbers Local
93 Business Manager Lynn Karner; and UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Business Manager Larry Allport. “Congratulations to our
honorees,” remarked PAMCANI Executive Director S.J. Peters as he explained the competition and introduced the award
winners.
“On behalf of our President, Gary Rippentrop, Sr., the officers, directors and board of PAMCANI,
we’re proud to recognize these companies for this achievement. Safety on the job is serious business, and this issue can
never be over emphasized. This organization has revitalized our Safety Committee, we’re excited about launching a new
alliance with OSHA, and our website is about to introduce a section devoted to workplace safety. So today’s presentation of
these awards further highlights our commitment and the dedication of PAMCANI contractors to keep safety at the forefront of the
work we do.”
