Downers Grove, Ill.; Feb. 19, 2009 – “Be
Water Friendly –– Make Every Drop Count” is the theme of the 15th Annual Poster Contest for third- through sixth-grade students living in Lake and McHenry Counties sponsored by the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Authority of Northern Illinois (PAMCANI). “This competition is one of our major community initiatives to build awareness of the need for conserving water,” said S.J. Peters, executive director of PAMCANI.
Deadline April 3
Entries may be rendered in any medium; overall size must not exceed 24x36 inches. They must be submitted by April 3, 2009 at any of the locations listed below and will become the property of PAMCANI. They will be judged for originality, design and message. Each student is allowed only one entry. Winners will be announced by May 8, 2009.
$500 Bond Grand Prize
The Grand Prize is a $500 U.S. Savings Bond to be awarded to a student for a poster selected from all the entries submitted; that student’s school will be awarded a $2,000 CDW (Computer Discount Warehouse) gift certificate.
Prizes For Each Grade Level, Winners’ Schools
Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each grade level; the winning students will receive U.S. Savings Bonds of $200, $150 and $100, respectively. Honorable Mention awards of $75 U.S. Savings Bonds will be made at the judges’ discretion. In addition, the schools of all first-, second- or third-place winners will receive checks for $100, $50 and $25, respectively, for each winning entry.
