Downers Grove, Ill., March 9 , 2006 - S.J. (Stan) Peters, 44, has
been named executive director designate of the Plumbing & Mechanical
Contractors Authority of Northern Illinois. He joined the PAMCANI
staff on Jan. 3, 2006 and will succeed Georgiana Kipp, who will retire this
July after leading the organization since 1986.
Peters comes to PAMCANI
after 15 years (1990-2005) as communications director and vice president of the
UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers International Union), Local 1546. His
prior posts include communications director of the Central Educational Network
of PBS (1987-89) and publisher of the Chicagoland Radio Waves radio guide
magazine (1988-90) as well as extensive media background in radio, TV, print,
and public relations.
Peters has chaired the Marketing &
Communications Committee as an executive board member of The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society's Illinois Chapter (1999-2005). Other offices he has held
include trustee of the North Central Illinois Labor Council (2000-2005),
secretary-treasurer of the Illinois State Labor Press Association (1994-2005)
and vice president of the International Labor Communications Association
(1992-1998).
A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago (1983), Peters
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, with an emphasis on social
and interpersonal communication. He was also active during college at the
campus radio station and the student newspaper.
Peters and his wife of
20 years (Carrie) have 2 daughters and live in Downers Grove.
