Downers Grove, Ill.;
May 31, 2006 - Twenty third- through sixth-grade students living in Lake and
McHenry Counties earned awards in the seventh annual poster contest held
recently by thePlumbing and Mechanical Contractors Authority of
Northern Illinois. The competition theme, "It's A Snap - Turn Off The Tap,"
encourages students and their families to conserve water.
Crystal
Lake Third-Grader Wins Grand Prize Rachel Melchionna, a 3rd grader at
St. Thomas the Apostle School in Crystal Lake, won the $500 U.S. Savings Bond
Grand Prize; her school was awarded a $2,000 CDW (Computer Discount Warehouse)
gift certificate.
Individual Prizes For Grade Levels, Schools
Prizes also were awarded for 1st through 3rd place and optional honorable
mentions in each grade level. The winning students received U.S. Savings Bonds
of $200, $150, $100 or $75, respectively. In addition, schools that had first-,
second- or third-place individual winners received $100, $50 or $25,
respectively. All participants received an award certificate and gift item.
