- Third- through sixth-grade students living in Lake and McHenry Counties
are invited to submit entries for the "It's A Snap - Turn Off The Tap" poster contest being
sponsored by the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors
Authority of Northern Illinois. The focus of the
contest is on encouraging water conservation.
Grand, Individual Prizes For Grade Levels, Schools
The Grand Prize of a $500 U.S. Savings Bond will be awarded to
a winner selected from all the entries submitted; the winning student's school
will be awarded a $2,000 Computer Discount Warehouse gift certificate.
Prizes also will be awarded for first through third place and
optional honorable mention at each grade level. The winning students will
receive U.S. Savings Bonds of $200, $150, $100 or $75 respectively. In addition,
schools that have first-, second- or third-place individual winners will
receive $100, $50 or $25, respectively.
All participants will receive an award and gift item.
Entries must encourage water conservation, focusing on the "It's A Snap -
Turn Off The Tap" theme. They may be rendered in any art medium but overall
size must not exceed 24x36 inches. They must be submitted at one of the official
drop off sites listed below by April 7, 2006.
Each participant is allowed one entry. The student's name, school
and grade must be clearly printed on the back of the entry. Winners will
be announced by May 5, 2006.
