22 Students Win Awards In "Open Your Eyes Be
Water Wise" Poster Contest
Downers Grove, Ill.;
Jan. 12, 2005 Twenty-two students have earned awards in the poster
contest held recently for second- through sixth-grade students living in
DeKalb, DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties by the Industry Promotion Fund of the
Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association of Northern Illinois (PAMCANI).
This years theme was "Open Your Eyes Be Water Wise." It was the
tenth annual poster competition sponsored by PAMCANI to encourage students and
their families to appreciate the values of conserving water.
Glen
Ellyn Student Wins Grand Prize The Grand Prize of a $500 U.S. Savings
Bond was won by Daniel Alfonzo, a 6th grader at St. James The
Apostle School, Glen Ellyn. His school was awarded a $2,000 Computer Discount
Warehouse gift certificate.
Other prizes were awarded for
1st through 3rd place and optional honorable mentions in
each grade level; the winning students receive U.S. Savings Bonds of $200,
$150, $100 or $75, respectively. In addition, schools that have first-, second-
or third-place individual winners receive $100, $50 or $25, respectively.
The other winners are: Batavia: Carissa Petit,
6th grade, 1st place; Breanna Choffin, 6th
grade, 2nd place; Ellyn Theis and Kaylee Wilson, both 6th
grade, honorable mention all of Rotolo Middle School.
Darien: Bianca Smith, 4th grade, 1st
place; Mike Stromberg, 4th grade, 3rd place; Kantar
Mukker, 3rd grade, and Taylor Wold, 4th grade, both
honorable mention all of Fairview School; Amanda Strolia, 6th grade,
3rd place tie, Our Lady of Peace School.
Elgin:
Crystal Thomas, 5th grade, 1st place; Brooke
Bertsche, 5th grade, 2nd place; Emily Troutman,
6th grade, 3rd place tie; Benjamin Stevenson,
6th grade, honorable mention; Samuel Stevenson, 5th
grade, honorable mention all of Westminster Christian School.
Naperville: Bobby Rozner, 4th grade, 2nd
place; Jamie Martin, 3rd grade, honorable mention; both of
May Watts School: Kylie Harnen, 3rd grade, 1st place;
Kristina Gerardy, 3rd grade, 2nd place; Mehul Pandey.
3rd grade, 3rd place; Angela Xu, 3rd grade,
honorable mention all of Wheatland School.
Streamwood:
Brad Lewis, 5th grade, 3rd place, Hanover Countryside
School.
PAMCANI represents 270 union contractors in DeKalb,
DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties as well as sustaining members who provide and
maintain plumbing, heating and cooling systems for institutional, commercial,
business and residential applications. It invests more than $3,000,000 annually
for education and training of apprentices and journeymen.
