26 Students Win Awards In "It's A Snap-Turn Off the
Tap" Poster Contest Sponsored by Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors
Downers Grove, Ill.;
Dec. 14, 2005 - Twenty-six students have earned awards in the
It's A Snap -
Turn Off The Tap poster contest held recently for third- through sixth-grade
students in DuPage, DeKalb, Kane and Kendall Counties by the Industry Promotion
Fund of the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors of Northern Illinois. It is the
eleventh annual poster competition sponsored by PAMCANI. The theme
encourages students and their families to conserve water.
Winfield Central Student Wins Grand Prize The Grand Prize of a $500 U.S. Savings
Bond was won by Ulises Lopez, 6th grade at the Winfield Central School in
Winfield. His school was awarded a $2,000 Computer Discount Warehouse gift
certificate.
Other prizes were awarded for 1st through 3rd place and
optional honorable mentions in each grade level; the winning students receive
U.S. Savings Bonds of $200, $150, $100 or $75, respectively. In addition,
schools that have first-, second- or third-place individual winners receive
$100, $50 or $25, respectively.
The other winners are:
Batavia: Morgan Jury, 4th grade, 2nd place, and Lanie McGill, 3rd
grade, honorable mention, both at Grace McWayne Elementary School.
Burr Ridge: Leslie Zeman, 6th grade, 3rd place, and Kirsten
Zeman, 6th grade, honorable mention, both at Gower Middle School.
Darien: Bianca Smith, 5th grade, 3rd place, Fairview School.
Downers Grove: Ashley Jacob, 3rd grade, 1st place and Kellyn
Maquire, 4th grade, honorable mention, both at Prairieview Elementary School;
Daniel Meinhart, 6th grade, 1st place, and Eric Mienhart, 6th grade, honorable
mention, both at Belle Aire Elementary School.
Elgin: Hope
Demel, 5th grade, 1st place, at Fox River Country Day School; Kali Kossakowski,
5th grade, honorable mention, at St. Thomas More School; Tina Spears, 3rd
grade, 2nd place, and Kira Spears, 5th grade, 2nd place, both at Westminster
Christian School.
Glen Ellyn: Molly Green, 4th grade, honorable
mention, St. James The Apostle School.
Maple Park: Stephanie
Rosenwinkel. 6th grade, honorable mention, Kaneland Middle School.
Naperville: Heidi Hsaio, 3rd grade, 3rd place, and Abby Ehrler,
3rd grade, honorable mention, both at May Watts School.
Oakbrook
Terrace: Jasmine Chin, 4th grade, 1st place, Michelle Herz, 4th grade, 3rd
place, and David Poulopoulos, 4th grade, honorable mention, all at Stella May
Swartz School.
Sandwich: Kylie Mathis and Melanie Tassone, both
5th grade, honorable mention, both at Dummer School.
Sycamore:
Nicole Carleton, 6th grade, 2nd place, and Kiah Fischer, 6th grade, honorable
mention, both at Sycamore Middle School.
Westmont: Patricia
Vogelsinger, 4th grade, honorable mention, at Maerker School.
