19 Local Students Win Awards in "Open Your Eyes - Be Water Wise" Poster Contest
Downers Grove, Ill.;
June 15, 2005 - Nineteen
students earned awards in the sixth annual poster
contest held recently by the Industry Fund of the Plumbing and Mechanical
Contractors of Northern Illinois for third- through sixth-grade students living
in Lake and McHenry Counties. The competition theme, "Open Your Eyes - Be Water
Wise," encourages students and their families to conserve water.
Mundelein Fifth Grader Wins Grand Prize
Magda Magana, a
fifth grader at Fremont Middle School in Mundelein, won the Grand Prize of a
$500 U.S. Savings Bond; her school was awarded a $2,000 CDW (Computer Discount
Warehouse) gift certificate.
Individual Prizes For Grade Levels,
Schools
Prizes also were awarded for first through third place in each
grade level. The winning students received U.S. Savings Bonds of $200, $150 or
$100, respectively. In addition, schools that had first-, second- or
third-place individual winners received $100, $50 or $25, respectively. All
participants received an award certificate and gift item.

Crystal Lake, St Thomas the Apostle School: 3rd
Graders Chris Daniels, 1st place; Sara Mickow, 2nd place; Matison Beaudette,
Rachel Pollostrini, Christa Vuglar and Jacob Tarlow, honorable mention and 4th
Graders Nick Teetsov and Erin Howe, honorable mention.
Grayslake,
St. Gilbert School: 4th Graders Natalia Piela, 2nd place and Megan Rauch,
3rd place.
Lake Forest, Rondout School: 4th Grader Swaeta
Sekharan, 1st place.
McHenry Middle School: 6th Graders Brittany
Clingingsmith, 1st place and Katie Burrey, 3rd place.
Mundelein,
Fremont Middle School: 5th Graders Erika Tyagi, 1st place, Nikko Koruna,
2nd place and Jane Miller 3rd place. Waukegan, St. Anastasia School: 6th
Grader Elizabeth Roberts, 2nd place.
Woodstock, Greenwood
School: 3rd Grader Anne Vogrinc, 3rd place.
