From a business and economic standpoint, 2009 achieved what no one could have predicted;
it made 2008 look better by comparison. Pencils have never been sharper and selling
skills have never been so finely honed. Virtually all of our ‘shops’ have been strategically
streamlined — personnel, supplies, equipment, inventory — to maximize efficiency and
stretch not only each dollar, but every single penny. In an occupation that relies on absolute
efficiency, now there is even less room for error. No frills and no extras. The tough
got tougher.
The vast majority competed with determination in a more crowded field. It was no guarantee,
but more often than not: the harder they worked, the luckier (maybe) they got. PAMCANI
spent the year offering as many seminars, classes, continuing education programs, information,
resources, and support we could think of, or were asked of us. But that is what an association
is supposed to do, and we intend to continue.
In our third edition of the PAMCANI
at Work Year in Review, we’ll look back at much of what happened in 2009, and just as
importantly, we certainly will look ahead with confidence in lessons learned in the year that
just ended. Let’s get ready to do it all again in 2010, only better.
